Lit Devices: Epigram/Sarcasm

Epigram: a pithy saying or remark expressing an idea in a clever and amusing way.

Example:

To stand, or move; if he say true, he lies."

Sarcasm: the use of irony to mock or convey comtempt

Example:

  1. Good examples. Can you discuss what meaning they invoke when used. Example - Why would an author use sarcasm? Why would she/he use an epigram?
